That's a bit unfair, Daz. It costs a fucking fortune to tour over here, and they've had no record company support at all for years. The only reason they're coming over this time is to promote the re-release of "No Respect".
A hundred, schmundred, so what? A 100 tickets sold
is crap, considering the popularity of the bands
on the bill.
I think they will stuggle. I love Vain - I love
every note of every song they've ever published -
but I'm also a realist, and realistically speaking,
their CDs have sold fuck all in the UK for about
a decade, never mind the fact that the 'original'
Vain are all now in their early forties.
I hope the tour's amazing. I hope every gig is
spectacular, but considering Davy and co. have
ignored Europe for about 10 years, they're hardly
in a position to expect people to jump for joy at
the presence.
I feel quite sad saying this, but Vain (I think)
are guilty of: too little, too late.

Finally Vain in Spain, what a long time waiting for them...
The Vain in Spain - Fools mainly on the plane, heehee
The re-issue of No respect is sold nearly 4000 copies which compared to other NEW issues of glam cds that is incredible.....and proves the fans are still out there.
To sell 100+ tickets with 3 months to go until the gig is awesome....okay so we're not competing with the likes of Velvet Revolver, etc but we're not expecting too. A lot of gigs struggle to sell 100 tickets...how many do Pretty Boy Floyd expect to get in a couple of months time?
As for ain never touring before, whos fault is that? If no-one is willing to go out and bring the band over then they never will tour....I'm putting my hand in my own pocket to cough up airfares, tour bus, venues, promotion, etc so need all the support I can get with promotion, turn outs, and support in general, rather than someone saying '100 tickets is shit!'
The tour is in fact to promote the NEW Vain release and also push the re-issue so we're not promoting 16 year old material we're pushing NEW material which will be available at the shows...
I HOPE TO SEE ALL GLAM FANS AT THE SHOWS AND SUPPORT THE SCENE!!!
<font size="4" face="Arial">Yeah, and look at what happened in the intervening time. Nobody - NOBODY - would have financed a Euro tour for a shamelessly Glam act, particularly one as "cultish" as Vain (let's face it, they were never a mainstream band), during the 90s or early 2000s. In the face of the Grunge years and the resulting fallout, which is only now starting to clear, it would have been financial suicide. I'm still amazed they're coming back at all.Originally posted by Deviant D:
Yeh, but Lee, 'No Respect' is now nearly sixteen
years old.
16 years...

C'mon, there's always a way. Flying back from
Italy, about a year ago, I only paid ?1.50 with
Ryanair.
If every band adopted such a defeatist attitude,
nodody would ever tour.
Maybe Davy could have used some of the money
he's making from remixing ppl like Aguilera,
etc.?

Its not just the flights....although they are costing ?3000 alone, its the accomodation, the backline hire, the transport, the time these guys have to take from work cos most have day jobs, the money to promote tours (another ?2000 plus), etc... so okay u got a ?1.50 flight vie Ryan air...what can u do the other bits and pieces for?
I'd love to see some people who have never done tours before to do it themselves and see what is actually involved....
